The world premiere of this highly anticipated documentary pays tribute to our World War II veterans and is narrated by acclaimed journalist, Devin Scillian.  The film includes stories from 26 heroes of that great war, accompanied by an array of film footage, photographs, artist renderings, radio broadcasts and more. Through the eyes of our veterans and their children, the film portrays the profound impact of the war on their lives.

A Salute to Our WWII Generation, Let Us Not Forget is likely the last documentary in Michigan about World War II. In addition to the major military branches, the film includes interviews with the Tuskegee Airmen, Montford Point Marines, and Original Rosies. “Less than 40,000 soldiers are estimated to be alive at this time”, says producer/director, Mark Salloum.  “The film captures their stories of bravery, resilience, and sacrifice, offering a deeply personal glimpse into the experiences of those who served. Many of the veterans shared heart wrenching stories with us which have never spoken of since the war. It’s crucial that we share this with our young generation.”

Beyond storytelling, the film is crafted with a strong educational component aimed at informing and inspiring future generations. Early this year, Salloum met with high school (history) teacher,
Chris Belch about a life-changing assignment. In this project, students researched WWII veterans and prepared a detailed presentation about their findings. Additionally, students joined
the Bending River team on a field trip to Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly and Michigan Heroes Museum in Frankenmuth.  The culmination of their project was at the Memorial Day Parade in Plymouth where students marched with 11” x 17” posters of the veterans they researched, and family members were lined up on the streets. 

Beyond the veterans, several family members of our veterans will be introduced in the film, sharing emotional insights on their fathers.  In particular, one group of four sisters gathered from
around the country to unveil a tin can filled with letters which had a note that read: “Do not open until dad has passed.”

Acclaimed journalist and author, Devin Scillian will act as the film’s narrator. He was born on an army base in Kansas and his father served in Vietnam. His 30 plus years in broadcasting and
journalism will be a welcome accent to this documentary. In addition, one of Devin’s original songs, “Grandpa, Were You Scared” will be used in the closing credits of the film, with a 
personal message about the experience of war.

During the January 8, 2026 world premiere night (ONLY), several WWII veterans and Original Rosies will be in attendance and honored prior to the show. In addition, the lobby will be decorated with a large display of WWII paraphernalia
presented by the Michigan Heroes Museum and the Rosie the Riveter Association of Michigan.
