We're kicking off a new year of incredibly exciting events as Varicosa by bringing stellar punk acts from far flung corners down to the south west, some of them for their first ever southwest tours! Among the first is our invasion of Leadworks in Plymouth on Saturday 31st January!

In January we're introducing BLONDINE to Plymouth: ‘electronic grunge’ best describes Manchester based 4 piece BLONDINE - playing around with a distinct blend of genres to create something that is unique and unsettling. It’s like Crystal Castles meets Courtney Love! Wolf Alice meets Berlin techno. Sonic youth on speed. BLONDINE have developed an unhinged, energetic and feral stage presence. Their set will range from heavy to dancey to melodic to disgusting - and they are ready to jump around and spill their guts out. 

Hungrily returning to Plymouth is CALL OF THE VOID: Bristol based Hardcore Punk band who blend classic Punk influence with heavy breakdowns and performance poetry to deliver a modern take on high energy Hardcore.

Lastly... there's us! Varicosa are rebellious, queer neurospicy seaslug punks who have risen from the ocean deep (or Plymouth) to launch a coral-covered fist into the gut of the patriarchy. Representing the trans, feminist and genderfluid communities, we mix thrashy punk with dark heavy tones, prog, experimental brass and synth. Named after the nudibranch Phyllidia Varicosa, we embody transformation, equality and resilience.
