The 5K is a trail run on the Mattatuck Scout Reservation, named after long-time volunteer Joe LeClair Jr (Big Joe). All profits from this event will go towards the Thomas J. Horan scholarship. The Mattatuck Volunteers award this scholarship annually to deserving staff members continuing their post-high school schooling and training, whether at a trade school, professional certificate program, or college/university.

The scholarship is given in honor of our long-time Camp Director, Thomas "Tom" J. Horan. The race starts at 10:00 AM, and runners/walkers will receive a shirt and a snack voucher; spectators can purchase food from our concessions, and our Trading Post will be open for racers/walkers and spectators alike. Greystone Racing will time and officiate the race.
 
We also have a one mile walk option.
