This training is co-delivered by Chris Wright (The Wellbeing Guy) and Sarah Jones (Uplifted Wellbeing) both of whom are Accredited Master Trainers in ASIST and bring a wealth of experience to the session.
Chris has over 14 years of experience working as a Wellbeing Practitioner, providing both 1:1 support and in management capacities, specifically in further and higher education settings and the third sector. He now delivers a range of wellbeing and suicide awareness programmes as well as providing 1:1 personal coaching as a Certified NLP Practitioner.
Sarah brings with her over 30 years experience working in public and third-sector roles providing support to clients 1:1, most recently with Mind - the mental health charity, and with GDAS drug and alcohol service.
ASIST training can be an emotional and demanding experience. It does require participants to be open to a variety of activities conducted in a positive, supportive environment, these include:
It is important that participants recognise that ASIST training is not therapy, and the course content means that anyone with current thoughts of suicide, recent bereavement by suicide or who is struggling with mental health issues should consider whether this is the right time to attend, and should seek appropriate sources of support.
