Bridging the Gap Between Farm Fields and Backyard Gardens

From the vast fields of Central Wisconsin to your own backyard, pollinators are the silent workers that keep our state growing. Join Food + Farm Exploration Center in our Greenhouse for an immersive workshop dedicated to the vital role native species play in our local food systems and ecosystems.

We are excited to partner with Lucky Bird Natives and Pheasants Forever for this session. In this workshop, you will go beyond the backyard garden to learn about the large-scale conservation efforts underway on working lands. Our guides will share how production agriculture supports pollinators and how federal programs help private landowners restore and protect these essential habitats.

Meet Your Workshop Guides:
• Amanda Barth: Owner of Lucky Bird Natives in Stevens Point. Amanda specializes in Wisconsin native wildflowers, grasses, and sedges. She will share expert insights on plant selection and the specific roles different species play in supporting local pollinators.
• AnnaMarie Hintz: A Farm Bill Biologist at Pheasants Forever. She provides technical assistance to private landowners implementing habitat enhancements. She works with the USDA to plan and fund conservation projects that benefit pollinators and other wildlife, including grassland birds, deer, and turkeys.
• Heather Doherty: A Wetland Easement Biologist at Pheasants Forever. Heather works with private landowners to manage, restore, and protect wetland ecosystems, focusing on long-term conservation outcomes and wildlife habitat.
