This album signifies a significant milestone for Vanden Plas as they welcome Alessandro Del Vecchio as their new keyboardist, infusing fresh vigour and creativity into the band's dynamic line-up. Del Vecchio's addition promises to push Vanden Plas's sound to unprecedented levels while staying faithful to their distinctive style.
"The Empyrean Equation of the Long Lost Things" carries on the band's legacy of pushing musical boundaries, melding intricate melodies with thought-provoking lyrics. It follows the footsteps of their acclaimed "The Ghost Xperiment" series, cementing Vanden Plas's status as a leading force in the progressive rock genre.
Guitarist Stephan Lill, who chiefly crafted the compositions on the previous albums, takes sole charge of the music on "The Empyrean Equation of the Long Lost Things," while Andy Kuntz contributes the lyrics and vocal lines as usual. Kuntz remarks, "I’ve admired Alessandro since our collaboration for his outstanding Frontiers Allstars project, where numerous renowned rock musicians participated. Though Alessandro couldn't partake in the songwriting for this album due to time constraints, his playing has already enriched the songs and sound with various nuances. The new artistic dynamic is palpable in this production."
Nevertheless, Vanden Plas remains faithful to their signature style: progressive rock infused with elements of elegy, melody, and metallic and epic influences. Furthermore, it's evident that Vanden Plas is embracing a "back to the roots" direction.

Founded in 1986 Ivanhoe is one of the longest lasting progressive Metal formations in Germany with international recognition dating back to their first label release in 1993.
Over the course of 8 studio albums, covering all corners of the genre from playful atmospheric sounds to dark complex metal riffs, the band manifested their status as one of Germany´s Progmetal highlight.
Ivanhoe accomplished European tours and shows with Queensryche, the Scorpions or Nevermore and Iced Earth as well as appearances on major festivals like “Bang your Head”.
The current lineup consists of Alex Koch (vocals), Giovanni Soulas (bass), Richie Seibel (keys), Chris Lorey (guitars) and Mathias Biehl (drums).
Ivanhoe released their 9th studio album “Healed by the Sun” May 10th 2024 through Massacre Records.
Ivanhoe Biography
Giovanni Soulas (bass), Markus Britsch (keyboards) and drummer Lars Hörnig founded Ivanhoe back in 1986. With different line-ups, the band recorded two demo tapes in 1988 and 1989. The debut album “Visions and Reality” was recorded in 1993 with Andy B Franck on vocals and Chuck Schuler on guitar.
Reactions inside and outside the prog and metal scene were overwhelming and even topped by international recognition in 1994 after the release of the 2nd album “Symbols of time”.
While the next album Polarized (1996) marked a peak in the bands history at the time in both album sales and songwriting it also lead to the farewell of singer Andy and drummer Lars. In 2001 band mastermind, Giovanni Soulas restarted Ivanhoe. As new vocalist musical star Mischa Mang (Jesus Christ Superstar, We will Rock you, a.o.) as well as guitarist Achim Welsch completed the formation.
The band started immediately working on the 4th album “Walk in Mindfields” released through Massacre Records in 2005. Amongst Mang, Soulas, Schuler and Welsch the lineup was completed with former “Lanfear” keyboarder Richard Seibel and Sebastian Brauchle (drums). With the same lineup, the band released their 5th release “Lifeline” in 2008. End of 2010 the band parted ways with drummer Sebastian Brauchle who was replaced by Matthias Biehl.
Following several sucessful shows (e.g. with Queensryche, Scorpions) and festivals such as “Building a Force” or “Bang your Head”, the band parted ways with Achim Welsch (guitars) in 2011.
In May 2013 the 6th studio album "Systematrix", produced by Giovanni, was released providing a slightly darker and more complex atmosphere. Singer Mischa Mang and drummer Matthias Biehl left the band shortly after. The Systematrix live shows were perfomed with the newly completed lineup, featuring singer Alex Koch (Spiral Tower, Powergod, Winters Bane, Scenes) and Rob Kudlek on drums.
The new lineup also composed and recorded the following 7th album “7 Days”, released in October 2015 again produced by Giovanni Soulas. After Chuck Schuler left the Band a second time, Ivanhoe hired Lars Vögtle to record the meanwhile 8th album of the band “Blood and Gold” that marks in many ways a slight turn to more catchy tunes.
In fall 2020, Chris Lorey (“Cave” / “Scenes”) and Micha Krebes (“Circuit Vision”) joined Ivanhoe. Both worked before with singer Alex Koch, while Chris has also been a close friend to Ivanhoe ever since the band´s release of “Symbols of time” in 1994. Micha decided before the recordings to the 9th album to step down as a drummer but supported the band in writing and designing the cover artwork for the album. The drums were recorded by Michael Biehl.
With this obviously perfect creative match Ivanhoe is using the band´s 25th anniversary to work on new material for the upcoming 9th album of Ivanhoe – the longest lasting export of German Progressive Metal!

What happens when you love classic progressive rock, alternative rock and brilliant pop? You make it really hard on yourself… but despite that, PreHistoric Animals have achieved huge success in all of these areas. When they released their second album, The Magical Mystery Machine (Chapter 1), they received praise from both audiences and reviewers. Samuel Granath and Stefan Altzar created their first album, Consider It a Work of Art, in 2018, and when it came time to tour, Noah Magnusson and Daniel Magdic (ex. Pain of Savation) joined the band. They played their first shows in 2019, for example Prog Power Europe, where they got a great response (they even closed down a food truck – just to see the prehistoric animals). As soon as they started rehearsing, they felt a special kind of chemistry in the room and immediately started writing new material. The first Magical Mystery Machine songs were written in 2019, and the album was released on September 30, 2020. Unfortunately, the pandemic prevented them from touring the album. Instead, they used their energy and creativity during the pandemic to write and record new material, and TMMM (Chapter 2) was completed in July 2021. The new album – The Magician Mystery Machine, Chapter 2 – continues the story of Cora and Jareth collecting the essence of humanity. The plot is sci-fi, but it touches on current issues in our society. Once again, the album was written and produced by PreHistoric Animals. It was mixed and mastered by Erik Berglund, and Richard Dearing created the amazing cover art. During this time, they also signed with Glassville Records, and the album was released on March 24, 2022.

Bardzo sobie to utrudniacie... ale mimo to PreHistoric Animals odniosło ogromny sukces we wszystkich tych obszarach. Kiedy wydali swój drugi album, The Magical Mystery Machine (rozdział 1), zebrali pochwały zarówno od publiczności, jak i recenzentów. Samuel Granath i Stefan Altzar stworzyli pierwszy album – Uznaj to za dzieło sztuki w 2018 roku, a kiedy przyszedł czas na trasę koncertową, do zespołu dołączyli Noah Magnusson i Daniel Magdic (ex. Pain of Savation). Zagrali swoje pierwsze występy w 2019 r., na przykład Prog Power Europe, gdzie spotkali się z świetnym odzewem (nawet zamknięto food truck – tylko po to, żeby zobaczyć prehistoryczne zwierzęta). Zamiast tego wykorzystali swoją energię i kreatywność podczas pandemii do napisania i nagrania nowego materiału, a TMMM (rozdział 2) został ukończony w lipcu 2021 roku. Nowy album – The magicy Mystery Machine, rozdział 2 – jest kontynuacją historii o Cora i Jareth zbierają esencję człowieczeństwa. Fabuła jest science-fiction, ale porusza aktualne problemy naszego społeczeństwa. Po raz kolejny album został napisany i wyprodukowany przez PreHistoric Animals. Miks i mastering wykonał Erik Berglund, a Richard Dearing stworzył niesamowite okładki. W tym czasie podpisali także kontrakt z Glassville Records, a album ukazał się 24 marca 2022 roku.
