Alida, a qualified and professional Percussionist and music teacher specialising in the African Djembe drum, Cajon and drum kit will be offering a 90min djembe drum workshop.
This will involve a short introduction about the roots of Rhythm not only in music, but also its early stage development in the human brain stem and how we and nature's rhythmic pulse are connected.
Then you'll indulge in a practical drumming session, starting of with posture, technique and a few warm up games. Followed by some graceful djembe movements and rhythmic breathing exercises to connect to our inner-rhythm, slowly building up in energy. You will cover various traditional African and modern grooves, as well as experience the powerful frequencies of group drumming with African percussion and polyrhythm.
GREAT for relaxation, enjoyment, stress-release, and strengthening your cognitive abilities.
Alida also has a music therapy degree and will also touch upon the benefits of drumming to the body, mind and soul.
