Qualifications\nThe Platteville Farmers Market is an outlet for selling locally grown, seasonal fruits, vegetables, cider, honey, sorghum, maple syrup, fresh and dried flowers, nuts, indoor and outdoor plants, baked goods, processed foods, dairy products, meats and vendor produced apparel and crafts. The market is intended to give growers, producers of goods, and consumers, an opportunity to deal directly with each other. The Market is also intended to enhance the downtown shopping area of Platteville.  Homegrown, home made and NO resale.\n\n2. Market Managers and Board of Directors\nThese are volunteer positions. The current market managers are Gary Olson, 608-732-8625 (olsong@centurylink.net) and Tony Demmer 608-732-8105, (andemmer@yahoo.com).  Wayne Jones is the contact for the Tuesday market manager and can be reached at 608-348-3177 (Jonesmar@uwplatt.edu).The Board of Directors function will be to serve as a decision making body to solve market disputes.  They will also enforce market guidelines when necessary.  This body will provide guideline clarification when needed.  The Board of Directors consists of all Market Managers, Bob Straka, and Ron Breuer.  Go to one of them if you have questions/problems.\n3. Space and Contributions \nAll individuals wishing to participate in the Market will sign the Vendor Contact Information form. No sharing of space is allowed unless the Market Manager is notified. Vendors will sell at City Park only on market days, and on Tuesdays at Take 2 Restaurant. Vendors wishing to participate season-long contribute $50.00 for One (1) stall. Vendors may choose to contribute more if they like. All funds will be used strictly for advertising and promotion of the Market. Checks can be made payable to the Platteville Main Street Program. No refunds will be given. Daily vendors will be charged $10.00 per day for a maximum of $50.00 (after five vending days fees will no longer be assessed).  Daily vendors are strongly encouraged to contacta manager before arriving at the market.  Copies of the vendor application, regulations, and contract will be available at the market.  The fee for the Tuesday Market is also $10 per market day or $50 for the season.  The $50 total fee will cover both Saturday and Tuesday Markets for the season.  Wayne Jones will collect Tuesday fees.\n4. State, County and Local Guidelines and Regulations Each vendor is responsible for having knowledge of and complying with ALL State of Wisconsin, Grant County, and City of Platteville laws governing health, packaging, labeling, taxes, scales, weights and measures, etc. Vendors are responsible for collecting sales tax on any non-food items, and must display appropriate retail licensing. Also vendors must secure their canopies if used by tying it down or weighing it down.  If you have questions regarding the necessary permit (s), contact Food Safety at www.foodsafety.wisc.edu or contact the Food Safety Supervisor, Dave Steinhardt, at 608-297-7259 or Field Service Director, Jackie Owens at 608-224-4734. \n\n5. Dates and Hours of Operation \nThe Platteville Farmers Market will begin on the first Saturday and Tuesday of May continuing through the last Saturday and Tuesday of October. In 2013, the Market begins on Saturday, May 4.\nSaturday hours are 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Tuesday hours are 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. (depending on daylight length). Vendors may set up earlier and are encouraged to remain set up until closing. Vendors will be in their stall by 7:00 A.M. or slot will be filled as needed.\n\n6. Spaces and Location \nThe Saturday market is located at Platteville’s City Park, across from City Hall. Tuesday’s market is in the Take Two Restaurant parking lot on business Hwy 151. \n\nSpaces will be assigned to full-time vendors and will remain constant for the duration of the season. Daily vendors will be assigned a space the day of the market on a first come first serve basis. Restrooms will be open at City Hall on Saturday mornings.\n\n7. Maintenance \nVendors will furnish their own tables, chairs, bags, extension cords, tent canopies and any other necessary supplies. Again, canopies must be secured, tied or weighted down.  Water and restrooms are accessible at City Hall. \n\nEach vendor is responsible for cleaning up all refuse around their booth and making sure that any Market debris in the park is cleaned up and taken out of the park. Absolutely no dumping of produce refuse in park receptacles.  Profanity is strongly discouraged at all times.\n\n8. Prices \nEach vendor is responsible for their own pricing. Prices should be readily visible to customers. They may be displayed on one large sign, smaller signs placed beside each product or by individually pricing items. \n\n9. Market Promotion \nAdvertising for the Platteville Farmers Market is supported solely by vendor fees and donations. Vendors work together to arrange advertising for the Market. \n\n10. Insurance \nVendors are responsible for their own personal and product liability insurance.\n11.  Market Coupons\nBefore accepting WIC or state-issued Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons, the vendor needs to be certified by taking training through Grant County.  The state issued yellow vendor's sign for WIC and Senior Nutrition certification should be displayed in full view.  The Platteville Farmers Market issued Senior Nutrition coupons and Food Pantry coupons can be accepted by all vendors and turned in to Gary Olson for cash redemption.\nDownload Guidelines in Word\n & Hours:\nMay - October\nCity Park every Saturday, 7am-noon (or sell-out)\n\nRainy weather? \nMany of us will still be out!
