- **Event Description**: The City of Platteville annual Spring Clean-up will be held on Monday, April 13 and Tuesday, April 14, 2026, with pick up the same day as your normal refuse collection. Items must be placed neatly at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the day of pick up. This service is provided to one and two-family dwellings only. All items must be stacked neatly and be in a pile no larger than 10’ x 4’ x 4’. Scrap metal should be stacked neatly separate from other refuse. Scrap metal and yard waste does not count toward the maximum 
size limit.

Specific items that will not be picked up include: batteries and tires, appliances including microwaves, refuse from major construction and remodeling projects, oil, anti-freeze, insecticides, and hazardous chemicals. Electronics (computers, printers, computer monitors, computer mouse, keyboards, and all accessories, televisions, DVD players, VCR’s, DVR’s, fax machines and cell phones) will not be picked up. If you need to dispose of an electronic item, please contact Republic Services at (608) 348-9586 for additional information.

Garden and yard waste is included in the Spring Clean-Up. Please have these items to curbside by Sunday evening and placed separately from weekly garbage. City $1.00 bags or stickers are not required during this special pick up only. If you have questions concerning the garden and yard waste clean-up, please  contact the Department of Public Works at (608) 348-9741, extension 2238.

BRUSH/LIMB DISPOSAL
The City of Platteville picks up brush and limbs the week of the first and third Monday of the month from spring through fall. Please have your brush/limbs out early as once the chipper has cycled, it will not return until the next scheduled week.

This service is limited to limbs up to 12 inches in diameter and a length that requires no more than two people to pull it from the curb to the chipper. Brush and limbs must be placed at the curb with the cut end toward the curb and stacked in a neat and orderly fashion.

YARD WASTE DISPOSAL
Yard waste is to be placed in the $1.00 Platteville bags and laid at the curb for pick-up on Thursdays starting in the spring. Bags can be purchased in the Finance Office at City Hall, Hermsen's Hardware and Piggly Wiggly, or use your own bag marked with a $1.00 sticker available in the Finance Office at City Hall. 

CEMETERY CLEAN UP
A general clean-up of Hillside and Greenwood Cemeteries will begin on Monday, April 6, 2026. Please remove any flowers or decorations you wish to save by Sunday, April 5, 2026. During clean-up, cemetery personnel will discard any flowers or decorations remaining after April 5, 2026. Flowers and decorations may again be placed after Friday, April 10, 2026.

Please be reminded that flowers and decorations should be placed on either end of the headstone and not in front of or behind. This allows equipment access for digging future graves.
