The Annual Summer Tea Retreat is back!
This event will cover all the bases of tea culture practiced here. In addition to the hands-on tea experience, we'll all be making food inspired by the tea lands using fresh ingredients from our garden and property and as local as possible. We might also have to make some pizza too, though.
From Charcoal making to use in boiling water, to making bamboo tools for Japanese Tea Ceremony, and learning from tea leaves how to bring out the best in each cup.
We will drink Greens, Oolong, Puer and more! We'll span decades of teas, centuries of culture, explore styles of pottery, storage, and brewing methods, too.
Each day after breakfast we start with Japanese Tea Ceremony (Chanoyu) then pick from the garden for our lunch. followed by afternoon tea session exploration and more hands-on experience. If the weather cooperates we can hike up a 3000ft mountain that is close by and have tea at the top!
On the last day of the retreat, students will lead the ceremony they have been practicing all week, and serve tea casually in a real world environment at our local farmers market!
