Lake Renwick Heron Rookery is a local gem, but even paradise needs a little housekeeping. We’re looking for a crew of dedicated volunteers to help us clear out litter and keep our preserve pristine for the nesting herons, egrets, and all the wildlife that call this water home.

Whether you're a nature lover, a student looking for service hours, or just someone who wants to enjoy some fresh air while doing good, we’d love to have you!

The Details
When: Sunday, May 3rd from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Where: Lake Renwick Preserve (Meeting at Turtle Lake Access)
What to Bring: Sturdy closed-toe shoes, a reusable water bottle, and your favorite pair of work gloves (we’ll have extras if you need them!).

Why Join Us?
Protect the Birds: Lake Renwick is a critical nesting site. Removing plastic and debris prevents injury to the hatchlings.

Community Connection: Meet neighborly, like-minded people who care about our local environment.

The View: Spend a morning by the water and enjoy the peace of the preserve.

Fun Fact: Lake Renwick is one of the few places in Illinois where you can see Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, and Black-crowned Night-Herons nesting all in one spot!
