The Lu Lacka Wyco Hundo is an iconic gravel bicycle ride in Northeastern Pennsylvania this is back for the 13th annual ride. While it has become a staple of the regional cycling scene, the name itself is a shorthand for the route's geography and distance:
Lu-Lacka-Wyco: Stands for Luzerne, Lackawanna, and Wyoming, the three counties the ride traverses.
Hundo: Slang for "hundred," referring to the full route's length of approximately 100 miles.
Key Event Details
The Vibe: It is officially a ride, not a race, though the first two finishers traditionally receive hatchets. It’s known for a "grassroots" feel, a challenging course, and a famous taco stop mid-ride.
The Challenge: The full "Hundo" is notoriously difficult, featuring between 7,000 and 10,000 vertical feet of climbing. Organizers describe it as "as hard to complete as it is to say."
Terrain: A "mixed surface smorgasbord" including paved roads, gravel, and occasional mud.
Route Options: The ride is focused on the 100 mile route, and we have shorter (saner) distances available, such as 40, 62, and 75 miles.
