Join Mary Anne as she guides you to make a pysanky egg! This is a process workshop to learn the
fundamentals & inspire you. To make a pysanka egg, designs are drawn on a real egg with melted
beeswax. The egg is dipped in a series of dyes. And when the wax is melted off, your beautiful
design is revealed!
Creating pysanky is engaging & fun. Reasons people love this: to make gifts, to connect to one’s
heritage, for the sheer challenge, or to create art with Christian symbols of Easter. How special are
pysanky? UNESCO's committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritages of Humanity
has recognized this national folk art of Ukraine on their worldwide list!
This WORKSHOP Includes: A real raw egg (w/ pre-drawn design) for you to complete, will be blown
out in class for you to take home. You also take home the imported Ukrainian kistka tool you use in
class, along with many helpful printouts of information to design more eggs. Class size is limited for
optimal learning & happy fun.
