An incredibly diverse group of local queer artists, queer art lovers, supported by Q-MoB's Arts/Culture Coordinatgor and the Becket Arts Center Exhibits Director, figure out how to encourage submissions from as many and as diverse a group of local queer artists as possible by 3/29/26 (submission deadline), and how to promote both the Exhbit, the Exhibit Opening Reception on 6/13, and the Exhibit Artists Panel on 6/21.Planning Team needs people with a wide variety of skills to help: 1) invite as many diverse local LGBTQ artists to submit their works and to assist emerging artists in this process if needed; including flyer distribution throughout the region, social media & video creation & posting, 2) Issue press releases, photos, & videos and do press followup; 3) promote the exhibit, the opening reception, & artists panel; 4) recruit the Jury and the Artists Panel; 5) promote other exhibits & performances by local queer artists who live or exhibit/perform in the 8 rural counties of the Greater Berkshire Region.WE'RE HIRING: Our planning team is looking for a part-time paid consultant to support our efforts to plan, promote, and fundraise for both the Pride Art Exhibit and the promotion of the exhibits and performances of local queer artists throughout the region. Stipen is only $400/month, but please SEND A NOTE to Bart Church, Q-MoB Execuitive Director, if you'd like to learn more about the position, and please include resume, cover letter, and list of references.WHY THIS EXHIBIT IS IMPORTANT & HISTORIC: As recent government actions try to erase and defund all Diversity, Equity & Inclusion efforts in government, education, & the arts, a coalition of local organizations (Becket Arts Center, Q-MoB, Berkshire Queer History Project) is responding in a very creative Berkshire way: they are hosting the 2nd Annual Berkshire LGBTQ+ Pride Art Exhibit featuring local LGBTQ+ artists at the Becket Arts Center, 6/13-7/5 and calling on local LGBTQ+ artists to LGBTQ artists have been integrally involved in building and sustaining all of the arts institutions in the Berkshires for more than 200 years, and have been woven into the fabric of the creative economy that makes the Berkshires famous all over the world. So of course in 2025 a coalition of local organizations want to celebrate their contributions by showing their works at a special Pride Exhibit at the Becket Arts Center. Many people know the famous LGBTQ artists who have created world-famous works in the Berkshires like Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, & Ted Shawn, but fewer people know the many local queer artists who make the works we see in our homes, businesses, local stages, galleries, & museums. This Pride Exhibit is for those artists who are your neighbors, colleagues, & friends.The Berkshire Queer History Project (BQHP) will be on hand filming stories from both artists and their patrons about the local LGBTQ+ artists who have made our lives better by making, exhibiting or performing in the Berkshires.
