To build youth motivation; promote learning and self-direction; and improve programs and communities.Supporting youth voice and choice doesn't mean relinquishing all control to youth. This interactive workshop guides staff to support young people by providing opportunities for voice and choice. With proper support and scaffolding over time, young people grow in responsible decision-making and leadership.Participants will leave this session with practical skills that can be implemented immediately.Registration DetailsRegistration is open for this event until it fills up or until two days before the workshop.This workshop is limited to 20 participants. We will have a waiting list that we'll use to both fill spots that open up and also help plan our future workshop topic schedule.Each participant will be provided with a workbook to use during the training and keep and receive a certificate of completion via email afterwards.Location & AccessibilityThis workshop will take place at the Community Engagement Center - Homewood (622 N. Homewood Ave. 15208).There main entrance is an accessible entrance facing N. Homewood Ave. The workshop will take place in the Education Classroom on the lower level and is accessible via elevator or stairs.If you come by car there is free on-street parking around the Community Engagement Center. There is also a metered parking lot on the corner of N. Homewood Ave. and Kelly St.More details about this location and transportation are in the FAQ below.
