Recovery Coaching is a new and exciting frontier in the field of addiction services. The CCAR Recovery Coach Academy will be hosted by the Message Carriers of Pennsylvania, Inc. This is an opportunity for individuals to learn to work with recoverees to promote recovery, remove barriers, connect people with recovery support services and encourage hope, optimism and healthy living.

The academy focus is on the distinct differences between a counselor, Recovery Coach and sponsor; the Stages of Change through which a Recovery Coach can assist recoverees, Boundary Issues, Ethics, Guiding Principles and Core Values of Recovery, Self-Disclosure. What is Recovery Coaching? Stigma, Pathways to Recovery, Cultural Competence, Spirituality in Recovery, Wellness/Recovery Planning and much, much more!

This training is appropriate for Certified Recovery Specialists (CRS), CRS Supervisors, Case Management Supervisors, Treatment Facility staff and those interested in recovery coaching who are not yet employed and want to volunteer.

Recovery Coaching is a valuable skill that is transferrable to many other Human Service delivery systems.

This program is offered for 30 hours of social service work continuing education through co- sponsorship of the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Work, a Council on Social Work Education- accredited school and therefore, a pre-approved provider of social work continuing education.
