Pro Bike + Run - NDSS Fundraiser Run from Harp and Fiddle
Word Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), 21 March, is a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. Every year the voice of people with Down syndrome, and those who live and work with them, grows louder. The events of WDSD help to raise awareness of what Down syndrome is, what it means to have Down syndrome, and how people with Down syndrome play a vital role in our lives and communities.
Pro Bike + Run and the PBRRC is proud to support the National Down Syndrome Society and their efforts to help raise funds and awareness. This run is particularly important as our own mentor and ambassador, Gina Mannion, has an incredible daughter Maeve, and will be running the Run for 3.21 from D.C. to NYC and the United Nations in her honor on March 19-21 to help raise awareness.
"The Run for 3.21" is a 250 mile adventure from Washington DC to New York City. The run will bring together a team of self-advocates, athletes and allies in the NDSS community, working together to run, non-stop, from the Nations Capitol to the steps of the United Nations. This amazing run will culminate in a presentation at the UN on World Down Syndrome Day, March 21st, which will showcase our mission: to enhance the quality of life for all people with Down syndrome, help them realize their aspirations and become valued members of welcoming communities."
