About The Host:
The Monongalia County Child Advocacy Center, Inc. (MCCAC) ensures each child affected by abuse, neglect or related trauma is empowered to disclose with dignity, attain justice, and most importantly, heal with support, love, and encouragement.Each year, children and families come to the MCCAC in the aftermath of abuse, trauma, or violent crime. For some, the path to healing is clear, and for others, the obstacles may seem insurmountable. Regardless of their trauma, their level of need, or their ability to pay, the MCCAC is here to help.Our Child Advocacy Center Program encompasses the following services: forensic interviews, therapy/ support groups for abused children and their non-offending family members (child sessions are provided at either the school or our Center), mental health screenings, clinical evaluations, parent-training, victim support/ advocacy for abused children, crisis intervention, coordination of the multidisciplinary team of professionals that work together on child abuse cases, case review, case tracking, and linkage/ referral to needed services for child abuse victims.Additionally, we offer our Drug Endangered Children (DEC) Program, which responds to parental substance abuse as a key factor underlying the abuse and neglect experienced by many children in West Virginia's child welfare system. DEC is designed to improve well being, permanency and safety outcomes of children who are in out-of-home placement due to a caregiver's substance abuse. The DEC Program expands access to comprehensive family-centered treatment and provides direct services to drug-impacted families.
