# Event Details

- **Event Name**: La Prima Espresso Downtown & Heinz History Center -- Pittsburgh's Hidden History
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sun, 30 Nov, 2025 at 12:15 pm – Sun, 30 Nov, 2025 at 05:00 pm
- **Event Description**: This event is planned so people may take advantage of RAD Pass(http://www.radpass.org) where Allegheny County/Carnegie Library card holders may reserve a one-time free admission pass online per year for up to 4 people on Wednesdays or Sundays at the Heinz History Center & Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum(http://www.heinzhistorycenter.org/) during November 2025 and December 2025. Thus, people can visit the Heinz History Center several times as one of the guests with their family/friend's RAD Pass(http://www.radpass.org) reservations during November-December 2025. By taking advantage of RAD Pass(http://www.radpass.org), people can save compared to the usual Heinz History Center Admission charges of $20 Adult, $18 Senior, and $11 Student. With this approach, people may see first-hand the great work and think about becoming (or gifting) a Heinz History Center Membership (which includes Fort Pitt Museum, Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village, and many other benefits)(https://www.heinzhistorycenter.org/join/) to enjoy year-round activities. The Meetup will begin 2 blocks from the Heinz History Center at La Prima Espresso Downtown(https://laprima.com/) 1100 Penn Avenue (at the corner with Smallman Street, less than a block from the Convention Center) as the group gathers from 12:15-12:30 PM to enjoy coffee/tea/breakfast together and discuss how much time they might have to spend during the rest of the afternoon. This will allow for a firm headcount to make RAD Pass(http://www.radpass.org) reservations for everyone (for example, one person can reserve a pass for 4 people) before they walk over to the Heinz History Center & Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum. Once inside the Heinz History Center & Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum, the group may check out all of the exhibits at a leisurely pace since the museum is open until 5 PM. It's also OK if people wish to enjoy La Prima Espresso Downtown(https://laprima.com/), meet/socialize with others in the group but decide to do something else during the afternoon together in the Strip District or Downtown, such as checking out the Holiday Market in the Cultural District(https://downtownpittsburghholidays.com/holiday-market), Pittsburgh Symphony Concert at Heinz Hall, downtown art galleries, etc. The Heinz History Center & Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum(http://www.heinzhistorycenter.org/) is open from 10 AM - 5 PM daily. Due to popular demand, Pittsburgh’s Hidden History(https://www.heinzhistorycenter.org/whats-on/history-center/exhibits/pittsburghs-hidden-history/) exhibit has been extended until April 4, 2026. From scary to stunning, tiny treasures to magnificent marvels, the everyday and the extraordinary, the exhibition takes you on a thematic journey through artifacts, photographs, and documents that connect with our region’s history. Explore objects from iconic Pittsburgh institutions like The Original Hot Dog Shop, Primanti Bros., Kaufmann’s, and Kennywood. Inspect the getaway sleigh used in an infamous shootout with the Pittsburgh police and the notorious Biddle brothers following a prison break in 1902 – a story so dramatic that it was later made into a Hollywood film! Other highlights include: A spooky section on Scary Pittsburgh, featuring creepy dolls, haunting clown masks, and the ghoulishly green Vampiress from Kennywood’s now-shuttered dark ride Le Cachot Some of the oldest objects in the collection, from an 18th century key to Fort Duquesne to an unfinished flint tool unearthed at Meadowcroft Rockshelter that dates back 14,000 years Rare sports treasures like a 1910 Honus Wagner trading card and the Oakmont jacket worn by Eric Springer, the first African American member of Oakmont Couture clothing, like an Alcoa aluminum mini dress by legendary fashion designer Oscar de La Renta, an 1880s pink afternoon dress made by Madame Vignon, and a Gilded Age gown Directions & Parking - Heinz History Center(https://www.heinzhistorycenter.org/visit/heinz-history-center/directions-parking/)Other nearby parking options include the ParkPGH(http://parkpgh.org) website with real-time info on downtown parking garage availability. Stay tuned for updates! Of course, as always, it is also fine if you prefer to attend the Heinz History Center and take advantage of RAD Pass(http://www.radpass.org) on your own with family/friends.
