Join us on the first Friday of each month for a free open house at Pittsburgh Glass Center! Bring the whole family to experience exciting narrated glassblowing and flameworking demonstrations in our studios, browse handmade glass art gifts in our retail shop, and explore the contemporary glass exhibition in The Hodge Gallery.
It's the final few days to explore "To Hold..." our current exhibition by Detroit artist Lauren Kalman. The show is a meditation on desire, control, and loss, represented with blown glass vessels imprinted by puppet-like bronze castings of the artist's body. On view through August 3.
Enjoy live, narrated flameworking and glassblowing demonstrations throughout the evening. The Hot Shop will feature a demonstration by visiting artists Steve Hagan and Mark Leputa of High Priority Studio in Tucson, Arizona. Flameworking demonstrations will also take place throughout the evening.
Tonight will also feature a performance by local music duo Starling My Darling. Collaborating since 2019, Starling My Darling consists of Dawn Sipes and Paul Ferraro. Together, they’ve crafted a unique, sonically driven acoustic sound complemented by dreamy and enchanting vocal harmonies. Starling My Darling is singer-songwriter forward, combining original compositions with a mix of popular cover tunes that are interpreted in a way only they can do.
All ages are welcome!
