With the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution this year, North Carolina residents can’t help but wonder: What happened here? A lot more than the author of AmRevNC.com thought before he started his research, it turns out! From the first armed confrontation over Parliament’s acts in 1766 to a British raid on Beaufort in 1782, the colony-turned-state has the scenes of: the only fort destroyed by Patriots; action from the mountains to the sea; many instances of courageous women and other minorities; the Overmountain Campaign that turned the tide of the war; an iconic chase between two armies, ending in a climactic battle; and the most vicious civil war between Loyalist and Patriot partisans in the new country. Come become an instant expert and amaze kith and kin with your stories of the Revolutionary War in N.C.

Morgan is a creator of AmRevNC, a website devoted to the history of the battles of the American Revolution that happened here in North Carolina. He is a writer and journalist with a deep knowledge of the American Revolution and the fateful role North Carolina played in it. On Sunday, July 5, he’ll recount some of the historic battles that took place from the mountains to the sea in our colony-turned-state, and introduce us to some of the passionate Loyalists and Patriots who fought for control of this land.
