?????? apre nuove strade senza abbandonare le vecchie. Radicata nel jazz ma profondamente immersa nei ritmi dell’hip hop e della cultura di strada, la loro musica è una fusione audace di tradizione e innovazione. Il nome della band, Omasta, deriva da una parola del dialetto regionale di Cracovia che significa “grasso aggiunto al cibo per dare sapore”. 

È una metafora perfetta: la loro musica è ricca e densa, guidata da batterie corpose e da bassi profondi e pesanti, su cui si stratifica l’intreccio melodico di pianoforte, tromba, sassofono e flauto. 

Formatisi a Cracovia nel corso di diversi anni, gli Omasta hanno debuttato ufficialmente con un tributo a J Dilla nel febbraio 2024, nello storico Paul’s Boutique della città. Da allora hanno attirato grande attenzione in Polonia e in Europa, esibendosi in importanti club e festival come il London Jazz Festival, l’OFF Festival, il Gent Jazz Festival, The Jazz Cafe e il Ronnie Scott’s di Londra, l’AB di Bruxelles e molti altri. Collaborano con artisti che hanno segnato il genere, tra cui Madlib, Aquiles Navarro (Irreversible Entanglements), Marysia Osu, Tenderlonious e la leggenda polacca del free jazz Leszek Żądło. 

I loro tributi dal vivo ai visionari dell’hip hop hanno ulteriormente consolidato la loro reputazione, fondendo l’improvvisazione jazz con lo spirito e l’eredità della beat culture. Nell’ottobre 2025 gli Omasta hanno pubblicato il loro album di debutto per Astigmatic Records. Il disco ha ricevuto un forte riconoscimento dalla critica ed è stato incluso nelle classifiche di fine anno di influenti tastemaker come Somewhere Soul e della giornalista Tina Edwards, contribuendo a rafforzare ulteriormente il profilo internazionale della band.
