Presented by educator and cultural historian Jim Two Crows Wallen, “Tipi Daze” offers an engaging and respectful exploration of Native American history, culture, and storytelling. During the day, Two Crows will also work with Pipestone Area Schools students, bringing this important educational experience directly to the students of our community.

Through the use of authentic artifacts, including traditional games, tools, and clothing, Two Crows creates an immersive experience that brings history to life. His presentation focuses on the rich diversity of Indigenous nations and highlights how stories and traditions have been preserved across generations.

Audiences can expect a powerful and interactive evening as Two Crows shares myths, legends, and historical insights from the time of westward expansion, while thoughtfully addressing common misconceptions and encouraging deeper understanding.

“Tipi Daze” is made possible through a generous grant from Prairieland Library Exchange.

The Pipestone Performing Arts Center is located at 104 Main Street East in Pipestone. Guests may park in the free lots surrounding the theatre, including the First Farmers & Merchants Bank parking lot and the City parking lot behind the Historic Calumet Inn Hotel. The Box Office, located in the PPAC lobby, is where guests can check in, use restrooms, and be guided to their seats before the presentation.

                "description": "The Pipestone Performing Arts Center is located at 104 Main St W, in the heart of Pipestone's Historic District. This District is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places. The Center is housed in a Sioux quartzite building which dates back to 1897.\n\nWe are managed by a very dedicated group of community volunteers and our Facility Director, Dennis Hansen.  The Pipestone Performing Arts Center is the host stage for the Calumet Players, the Calumet Players Children's Theater, and the Al Opland Singers. \n\nThe Calumet Players offer great community theater with shows directed, managed, and acted out by local or area talents.  They produce three shows a year, generally a mid-winter event, fall event and a summertime musical. The Children's Theater produces one show per year with local youth entertaining all theater goers.\n\nThe Al Opland Singers have been a local tradition for many, many years.  They have called our stage home since our opening.  Twice a year, this group of talented voices from around the area entertains our audiences.
