- **Event Description**: This course meets the New York State requirements for the 16-hour classroom and 2-hour live-fire that became law in September 2022 as prerequisites for obtaining a New York State Handgun Permit. 

This course was designed by Zachary Pugh, whom has been a 1st responder in the law enforcement field since 2011, is a certified New York State Firearms Instructor, & has been a successful competitive shooter since 2015. His company, Pugh Self-Protection & Combatives, is also a Federally & State Licensed Firearms Dealer. The course is taught by various certified instructors. 

Topics include, but are not limited to:
-Firearm Safety
-Firearm familiarization & selection
-Firearm maintenance
-Holster familiarization & selection
-Ammunition
-Range safety
-Safe holstering & unholstering
-Loading & unloading firearms
-Shooting grip & stance
-Laws related to Use of Force, Firearm Possession, Sale of Firearms, Safe Storage, & Handgun Licenses
-Consideration when carrying a concealed firearm
-Marksmanship essentials

Participants must pass both a written test & firearm live-fire proficiency test at 80% or better in order to receive a Certificate of Completion.

The course is April 11th & 12th from 9am to 6pm both days. MUST ATTEND BOTH DAYS IN THEIR ENTIRETY. Course is held at the Pine City Sportsman's Club located at 187 Mountain View Dr, Pine City, NY 14871. You do NOT need to arrive any earlier than the list start time.

The course fee is $260 and includes everything including range fee, firearm rental, & ammunition.
