- **Event Description**: The 169th Annual Perry County Fair kicks off with the 54th version of The Great American Demo Derby on Saturday, June 13, at the Perry County Fairgrounds in Pinckneyville, Illinois.
This great demolition derby tradition was started in 1971, when Pinckneyville driver Harold Pierce outlasted 43 other cars to win the inaugural event in front of a sold-out crowd during the 115th Annual Perry County Fair.
With the exception of COVID in 2020, the fairgrounds has hosted at least one demo derby every year since.
Just like Bunny Bash in April and Halloween Howl in October, The Great American Demo Derby is a Triad of Thunder Championship Series points show as drivers earn points toward the coveted Huggamania Championship in all four classes and the Triad of Thunder Medallion for overall points leader across all classes at the end of the season.
The Triad of Thunder Medallion recipient is also the Harold Pierce Memorial Cup champion and gets their name engraved on the Cup itself.
