Armfield Recreation Center is excited to offer a fun, interactive Manners Class for ages 8–13 designed to give kids practical social skills they can use at home, at school, at restaurants, at events, and in the community.

Children will practice how to:
✔️ Make a great first impression
✔️ Introduce themselves with confidence
✔️ Use “please,” “thank you,” and “excuse me” naturally
✔️ Practice respectful communication
✔️ Use positive body language
✔️ Show kindness and respect in everyday situations
✔️ Practice proper table manners
✔️ Set a table and use silverware correctly
✔️ Build confidence in social and dining situations

🍽️ THE MANNERS CAFÉ
One of the highlights will be a hands-on Manners Café food demonstration!
Students will practice dining etiquette using familiar foods while learning how to:
🥄 Use silverware correctly
🍽️ Navigate a place setting
🥤 Practice proper dining etiquette
🗣️ Communicate appropriately at the table
😊 Demonstrate confidence and courtesy during a meal
This interactive experience helps turn good manners into real-life skills—not just rules to memorize.

We encourage participants to dress for the occasion!
Ladies: Dresses or skirts with dress shoes encouraged
Gentlemen: Khakis, collared shirt, and dress shoes encouraged

👩‍🏫 MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR — KARRIE TILLEY

Karrie Tilley attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science in Hospitality Management.

Her professional background spans a wide range of industries, including roles with NASCAR, ESPN, and major global events such as the High Point Furniture Market, where she worked with the Promotional Division of Marilyn's Agency in Greensboro, North Carolina. She also spent seven years with the Atlantic Coast Conference in the Men's Basketball Officiating and Operations Department.

Karrie and her husband, Josh, have been married since 2007 and live in Chapel Hill. Deeply rooted in her community, she has spent the past decade volunteering with organizations including:
•	Preschool at Chapel of the Cross
•	Scroggs Elementary School
•	St. Thomas More Catholic School
•	Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill

She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Chapel Hill Country Club, where she leads the Pool Committee, serves as Co-Chair of the Social Committee, and is an active club ambassador. In addition, she is the Co-Head Coach of the St. Thomas More Lady Knights Volleyball Team.
