Morbid Genealogy

Morbid Genealogy is a beginner genealogy course that explores the darker side of family history and ancestry research. You will examine death records, cemetery archives, obituaries, and historical causes of mortality to uncover how disease, war, and tragedy shaped family lines over generations. The class blends genealogy methods with social and cultural history, encouraging reflection on how death, mourning practices, and inherited trauma influence personal and collective identity. Feel free to bring a laptop or device to search your own history in class.
