Join award-winning Prairie Band of Potawatomi chef Pyet DeSpain for a special 3-hour cooking demonstration created exclusively for Indigenous Elders ages 55 and older. This interactive workshop celebrates Indigenous foodways, cultural knowledge, and the healing power of traditional ingredients. You'll be creating recipes with salmon or bison!
Chef Pyet will guide participants through the preparation of nourishing, culturally inspired dishes while sharing stories about Native food traditions, plant-based ingredients, and the importance of reclaiming ancestral food systems. Elders will learn practical cooking techniques, nutrition tips, and ways to incorporate traditional foods into everyday meals to support overall health and wellness.
This workshop provides a welcoming space for cultural connection, community building, and the honoring of Elders’ knowledge through shared learning and food. Participants will enjoy tastings, receive recipes, and leave empowered to recreate healthy Indigenous meals at home.
