Featuring Brian Melvin
A San Francisco native now based in Estonia, Brian Melvin is a world-renowned percussionist whose storied career includes collaborations with jazz and rock legends. He recorded five albums with bass virtuoso Jaco Pastorius, including Standards Zone, and fronted the fusion group Nightfood, featuring none other than Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead.
Melvin’s resume spans decades and includes work with Joe Henderson, Mike Stern, John Scofield, Michael Brecker, Joe Lovano, and more. He co-leads the internationally acclaimed group Beatlejazz with Grammy-winning pianist David Kikoski, and his current project FOG includes Jeff Chimenti of Dead & Company.
Deeply rooted in the improvisational tradition of the Bay Area, Melvin brings both fire and finesse to the Grateful Dead canon and beyond.
