Andy Lau plays Wah, a small-time gangster torn between loyalty to his reckless friend and the quiet pull of love for his cousin Ngor (Maggie Cheung). Beneath the smoke, sweat, and synths, the signature WKW themes emerge: loneliness, fatalism, and yearning against the hum of the city.
