Club DJ Fundamentals OCA-BD01

Ready to master the art of mixing? Step into the world of club DJing with this practical short course, designed for aspiring club DJs, music lovers and hobby DJs alike.

You’ll develop essential skills in mixing, beatmatching and live performance, learning how to craft seamless sets and energise a dancefloor. With guidance from industry professionals with real-world DJ experience, you’ll build the confidence and ability to perform at clubs, events and beyond.

Taught in CIT’s specialist music studios, classes incorporate practical demonstrations and hands-on practice using professional equipment and software.

Whether you’re looking to break into the music industry or take your first steps towards paid DJ work, this course provides the foundation you need. Build your skills, confidence and creativity in a supportive environment.

Open to all music genres and backgrounds, with no prior experience required.

To enrol in this course, you must be aged 17 years or older, and be one of the following: 

• an Australian citizen or permanent resident 

• a New Zealand citizen 

• the holder of a permanent humanitarian visa 

• an eligible temporary visa holder as defined in the CIT Admission and Enrolment Policy.   

• Face-to-face course delivered on-campus over 9 weeks (3 hours per week)

• HHow to set up and operate DJ equipment safely and effectively.
• The fundamentals of beatmatching, mixing, and using audio effects.
• Programming and structuring club sets for different audiences and venues.
• Techniques for reading a crowd and building energy on the dancefloor.
• Tips for developing your own DJ style and musical identity.
• Best practice for preparing and managing digital music libraries.
• Essential skills for performing confidently in live settings such as clubs or events.
