- **Event Description**: Architecture, murals, and public art—because in Philly, even the walls have something to say. And some of them talk shit.DESCRIPTIONPhiladelphia may be known as the City of Brotherly Love, but it could just as easily be called the City of Public Art. No city on earth has more murals, and very few can compete with the sheer volume, variety, and visual punch of the art spread across its streets, walls, plazas, parks, and alleyways. Add in more than three centuries of remarkable architecture—from colonial and federal gems to Beaux-Arts grandeur, industrial grit, Art Deco swagger, and bold modern design—and you’ve got a city that rewards anyone willing to slow down, look up, and pay attention.Join us on a professionally led walking tour through the Society Hill and Washington Square neighborhoods and the area known locally as the Gayborhood as we uncover some of Philadelphia’s finest murals, sculptures, monuments, and architectural treasures. Along the way, you’ll learn not just what you’re looking at, but why it matters—how these works connect to the history of the city, the nation, and the people who shaped both. Some stops are beautiful. Some are strange. Some are hidden in plain sight. All of them help tell the story of a city that refuses to be dull. This tour is perfect for anyone who loves art, architecture, history, local stories, urban exploration, and cities with a little grit under their fingernails. So lace up those walking shoes, bring a bottle of water, and come ready to see Philadelphia with fresh eyes as we SEEK out unforgettable works of art, EXPLORE the stories and meaning behind them, and WANDER the streets, plazas, and alleyways where the city shows off its soul.Designed for ages 12+.Approximately 3.8 miles worth of walkingBASIC INFORMATIONStart Times: Please see our event calendar for specific dates and timesEnd Times: Approximately three hours after the start time.Distance: 3.8 MilesLocation: Independence Visitors Center - 599 Market Street, Phila PA 19106Meeting Note: Your guide will meet and greet you on Market Street out front of the Independence Visitor's Center.
