We also delve deeply into architecture, urbanism, photography, public art, city life and Philly history.\r\nOur Hidden City Tours aim to change the way local folks look at familiar places, and to illuminate Philadelphia’s often neglected post-colonial history. Tours range from members-only visits inside extraordinary sites such as the vacant Red Bell Brewery, to walking tours that explore places such as Mt. Moriah Cemetery, the Lost Jewish Quarter, and Subterranean Philadelphia. \r\nOur Story\r\nHidden City Philadelphia grew out of founder Thaddeus Squire’s interest in exploring old estates, churches and factories. He went on to create the Hidden City Festival, which featured site-specific contemporary art and performances at nine obscure or abandoned places, including the Met Opera House and Disston Saw Works. A second festival was held in 2013. Today, Hidden City is a non-profit organization that remains dedicated to connecting local residents to Philadelphia and its history. \r\nMembership: \r\nHidden City Philadelphia relies on the generous support of our members to help fund our journalism. Your support goes directly to pay the writers, photographers and editors of the Hidden City Daily. \r\n \r\nAs a member of Hidden City, you’ll not only support our reporting, you’ll also receive various perks, including discounts on all our tours, invites to members-only tours and, at higher levels, complimentary tickets. If you enjoy reading the Daily, please consider becoming a member today--let's keep exploring Philadelphia together! \r\n \r\nHidden City Philadelphia is a project of CultureTrust Greater Philadelphia, our fiscal sponsor. CultureTrust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. \r\n " } ] } ] ```
