ABOUT TUFF CREW:

Tuff Crew is one of Philadelphia’s pioneering hip-hop groups, active primarily in the late 1980s early 1990s and still to this day touring & dropping new music, videos and more.

They are known for their raw, hard-hitting beats and aggressive lyricism, helping to shape the sound of East Coast hip-hop. Their style heavily influenced later Philly hip hop artists.

Tuff Crew emerged in the mid-1980s, gaining popularity for their high-energy performances and street-oriented lyrics. They were among the first Philly hip-hop acts to break onto the national scene.

Their 1988 album, Danger Zone, is considered a classic, featuring the hit "My Part of Town," which became an underground anthem.

The group’s production, characterized by heavy use of breakbeats, fast cuts, and DJ scratching, was a precursor to the hardcore hip-hop sound of the early '90s. They were often compared to Run-D.M.C. and Public Enemy.

Tuff Crew helped establish Philadelphia as a hip-hop powerhouse, paving the way for later acts like The Roots, Beanie Sigel, and others.
