If you are unfamiliar with Hurston's anthropological work, I urge you to get familiar.This month’s book club read: "How It Feels to Be Colored Me" (1928) by Zora Neale Hurstonhttps://scalar.lehigh.edu/african-american-poetry-a-digital-anthology/zora-neale-hurston-how-it-feels-to-be-colored-me-1928As you read, keep the Black experience at the top of your mind. Compare and contrast cultural and social norms to those in America, but most importantly your own experience.After reading the essay, choose one country in the African Diaspora to focus on, and then select one book by an author of color from that country (not including America), with a female protagonist to briefly discuss with others. Then purchase one savory or sweet dish that represents the country to share with 12 people.After registering, you will be sent a link to the Google Doc where you will select a country to focus onCost: $8. All financial contributions will help fund the future of the book club, with a primary focus on event spaces.
