In place of celebrating the United Nations-sponsored International Day of Yoga (IDY) holiday, we are once again reappropriating IDY in solidarity with Palestinians facing ongoing occupation, genocide, and displacement. We are calling for an end to the Zionist entity's genocide in Gaza and its 78-year occupation of Palestine.This program will take place in Clark Park (close to 45th and Woodland), in West Philadelphia. It will consist of a yoga offering, a healing circle and art activities, including banner-making, as well as some local vendors. Please bring your mat and water to stay hydrated.Rain location: Practice Space [804 S 4th St, Philadelphia, PA 19147] - 12pm-3pmFood / refreshments will be available by donation.All funds raised will support Camp Al-Jawad in Gaza.Yogis4PalestineWe are Yogis for Palestine (Y4P), a collective of yoga teachers and students, who strive to embody our practice by politicizing yoga toward action for Palestinian freedom and liberation. We understand that yoga, like any cultural practice, is not inherently liberatory and peaceful; however, we believe yoga can be used toward liberatory politics and collective healing. While the organizers of our collective reside in Philadelphia, PA (occupied Lenni-Lenape territories), we are open to yogis from around the globe who share our commitment of using yoga toward decolonization, anti-oppression, and social justice liberation to join us in our mission.
