Aesop’s Sound Fables is an ambient chamber music project that performs original soundtracks to silent films, nature, and unusual theater. The group is also known for hosting its Soup Dinner concert and reading series out of their apartment in Brooklyn, NY. Founded by classical guitarist Mike Nowotarski, the group relies heavily on improvisation, texture, and guest collaborations to create an inviting sound. will also be joined by special guest Matt Geary, an American Primitive Guitarist from Philadelphia who will be performing as part of the ensemble.

Aesop’s Sound Fables is a chamber collective that explores experimental sound. They write and improvise live musical performances, which accompany silent films, theater, and natural phenomena. During their most recent show on July 11th at 8 PM in Ridgewood, Queens, I listened to this group live score a 69-minute, 104-year-old film. Their performance was a pleasant reprieve from the aforementioned nods to the past. In fact, I would consider this musical collective to be one of the few small joys we have left.” – Cult Magazine Review 2024
