Advanced Topics in Forensic Chemistry
The Center for Forensic Science Research & Education presents its inaugural course in advanced topics in forensic chemistry. This is an in-depth course which explores one of the most challenging areas of forensic science. Speakers will cover the complex range of considerations that must be applied in performing analysis, reporting, and interpreting results in seized drug material casework.
With the constantly evolving nature of drugs of abuse, the forensic drug chemist needs to be abreast of the current advances in the field. New instrumental techniques allow for better resolution and identification of the latest chemical compounds and their derivatives. This course will focus on topics including emerging instrumental techniques, methods to improve data analysis, and current trends in the migration of drugs. The course is suitable for forensic drug chemists.
*** Presentation materials will be available on a flash-drive given at registration at the venue. It is suggested that you bring a laptop to follow along with the presenters. If this will be an issue, please contact Chelsea Opperman at Y2hlbHNlYSAhIG9wcGVybWFuIHwgZnJmb3VuZGF0aW9uICEgb3Jn.
