Leonard is a visual artist working in photography, sculpture and installation. Her work has been exhibited broadly, including recent solo presentations at The Chinati Foundation, US (2024); Musée d’Art Moderne, Paris, France (2022); Mudam, Luxembourg (2022); Whitney Museum, New York (2018); Museum of Modern Art, New York (2015). Her work is currently on view in the 61st Venice Biennale and was included in the 57th Carnegie International (2018); Documenta IX (1992) and Documenta XII (2007) and in Whitney Biennials in 1993, 1997, and 2014. She was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship (2020), the Bucksbaum Award of the Whitney Museum of American Art (2014) and an Anonymous Was A Woman Award (2006). She is a founding member of the artist collective fierce pussy which has been active since 1992.
