About the event

WVTE Presents, "Miracle on 34th Street"
West Virginia Theater East has announced the cast for it’s upcoming production of “The Miracle on 34th Street,” a classic Christmas time tale about Santa Claus and the power of imagination during the holiday season.
“Miracle on 34th Street: will be staged Dec. 19, 20 and 21 at Petersburg’s Landes Arts Center. Show times are 7 p.m. on Dec. 19 and 20, plus 2 p.m. one Dec. 21. All ticket sales will be at the door. Tickets are $8.00 students and $10.00 adults.
The production is loosely based upon a Dec. 20, 1948 performance of the story by the Lux Radio Theater, a popular program of the pre-television era. It tells the tale of a Macy’s Department Store Santa named Kris Kringle and his impact upon a collection of store employees and their families. Especially affected by Kringle is a child, little Susan Walker who has been raised by her mother, Doris, to not believe in Santa.
The director is Tom Hencke. The producer is Ashley Anderson.
In a bit of nontraditional casting, the role of Kris Kringle will be played by WVTE veteran Seneca Kimble. Doris Walker is portrayed by Madelyn Cook. Doris’ daughter, Susan, is played by Caroline Anderson. Charlie Stickley appears as Little Doris Walker. Josh Smith is cast as Doris’ boyfriend, Fred Gailey, an attorney who proves the existence of Santa Claus during a court hearing before Judge Clarice Darrow Harper (Noel Shreve).
Opposing Gailey in court is district attorney Mary Mara, played by Tara Kimble. Among Kringle’s supporters are department store owners R. H. Macy, played by Ross Pownell, plus Garland Combs, appearing as Bernard Gimbel. Another one of Kringle’s fans is Alfred, played by Ryker Harvey. Cooper Roberson appears as Mr. Shellhammer, a Macy’s executive. Questioning Kringle’s sanity is Doctor Sawyer, played by Cassidy Whetzel.
Appearing as Lux Radio Theater cast members are Shelly Alt, Amy Long, Maddie Elliott, Ragyn Alt and Ember Moreland.
Remaining cast members are Kyrah Redman, Daniel Smith, Josh Sullivan, Bryce Ketterman, Isaiah Goldizen, Eleanor Bowman, Adalynn Combs, Isabella Bachman, Kate Huffman, Isla Murray, Melodee Stewart, Klaire DBenedetto, Ananiah Whetzel, Baylor Anderson, Nora Stickley and Stella Strosnider, plus Magnus, Aris and Azalea Campbell. Several cast members appear in multiple roles.
In conjunction with the production, WVTE will be collecting food donations for the Petersburg Interfaith Pantry.
