- **Event Description**: We celebrate 'Rhythm & Dance' with an exhilarating sequence of pieces many of which will be showcased by our guest artists, the members of Tu Danse Studios here in Peterborough.
In the first half, the upbeat mood is set with Copland's barnstorming Four Dance Episodes from his ballet Rodeo with its lively Hoe Down. A beguiling Waltz by Shostakovich, from his Suite for Variety Orchestra is followed by the Thunder and Lightning Polka courtesy of Johann Strauss, finishing up with the ever-popular foot-tapping work by Marquez, La Conga del Fuego Nuevo.
In the second half the dancers perform classic waltzes by Tchaikovsky and Khachaturian (from Masquerade) along with polkas and tangos by Strauss and Piazzolla and Spanish dances from Bizet's Carmen. These are framed by orchestral favourites including Strauss's Roses from the South, Brahms' Hungarian Dances and Holst's St Paul's Suite.
