About Justine Gormley:

Justine Gormley established herself as one of Northern Ireland’s leading pianists following invitations from Barry Douglas to perform at the Belfast International Chamber Music Festival and
Clandeboye Festival, collaborating with internationally renowned artists Ailish Tynan, Michel Lethiec, Richard Watkins and Henri Demarquette.

She is a multiple-award winner, having received an Irish Heritage award after a successful performance at Wigmore Hall, the Rose Reilly Memorial Award at the Camerata Ireland Academy, and the Northern Ireland Arts Council’s Young Musician’s Platform Award, which led to a performance with the Ulster Orchestra and broadcasts with BBC Radio Ulster. She has been a semi-finalist at the Piano Campus International Piano Competition, a finalist at the Young Pianist of the North International Piano Competition and a prizewinner at the St Columb’s Hall Concerto Competition and the ESO Young Soloist Competition.

Her career has taken her to notable venues such as Wigmore Hall, Ulster Hall, St Anne’s Cathedral Belfast, the Irish Embassy London, and Bechstein Centre Manchester, in addition to Convento do Carmo Lisbon, at the Lisbon International Youth Music Festival. As a solo pianist she has appeared at festivals such as Blackwater Valley Opera Festival and Northern Ireland Opera Recital Series, and her interest in classical fusion music inspired her solo tour, Music of the Americas, which explored folk, jazz and blues influences in American classical piano music.

Justine is deeply invested in chamber and orchestral music, and was invited to perform as a collaborative pianist at Northern Ireland Opera’s Recital Series, University of Leeds International
Concert Series and at the Tung Auditorium in Liverpool. She was the only pianist selected for the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Foyle Future Firsts scheme for 2024-2025, training and performing under conductors such as Mark Elder and Edward Gardner at Henry Wood Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Royal Festival Hall.

Following her work as a Junior Fellow of Accompaniment at the RNCM, Justine currently holds the position of Accompanist in Residence and Piano Tutor at Uppingham School, where she enjoys performing and supporting her students.
