KofA Festival 2026: The Exeter Conspiracy with Adam Pennington

Join Historian and Author, Adam Pennington, as he examines a window of King Henry VIII’s reign that is sorely overlooked. The window in which he did not turn on his wives, his churchman or his lawyers, but his own extended family. Known as the Exeter Conspiracy, this shocking and turbulent period saw Henry destroy the last great remnants of the old Plantagenet dynasty, with three of England’s most prominent noble families all but wiped out. At its core was an elderly lady, Margaret Pole, Countess of Salisbury, who would endure one of the most infamous executions in a reign characterised by its bloodshed.

This much-anticipated lecture takes place in the Nave of Peterborough Cathedral and early booking is recommended.
