From there he continued to Ethiopia by train and bus, again driving from Nairobi to Johannesburg.His travels also included hitchhiking and train journeys to Cape Town, and finally a freighter voyage up the west coast to Senegal.Along the way there were challenges and adventures. Could the same trip be taken today, in the same manner? Who knows?His talk will be informal and illustrated with many slides. And if there’s time, there might even be an excursion up the Lofa River in Liberia in search of gold!This special presentation takes place as part of the museum’s current exhibition, A Glimpse of South Africa: A Celebration of the Rainbow Nation Through Photography and Fine Craft, on view from March 5 through June 14.
