Sunda Talks: A Rail-ly Good Afternoon at Sunda Shelves

Trains were the backbone of transportation networks during the industrial revolution and expansion of colonial empires, including in Malaya. There was a long period of decline in rail travel as road transport gained dominance, but now there is a renewed interest in trains and railways.

Railway journeys are very much related to Sunda Shelves’ focus on nature, travel and culture in Southeast Asia. No surprises then that we want to celebrate the second centenary of rail travel with not just one, but three talks in a single day and align the event close to 11/11 which is trending as an unofficial day of rail travel.
