Over the past decade, northern Indiana has seen a significant increase in wintering Bald Eagles. Today, this region rivals other prominent Indiana wintering sites, boasting impressive numbers. Some counts exceed 100 birds in a morning, and can make for great photographic opportunities.This special photography based field trip will meet at Mississinewa Dam Spillway on Sunday, February 8th, at 2 p.m. ET. Registered participants will meet at the Mississinewa Dam Spillway parking lot by the tailwaters. From there we'll caravan to a few areas to view both feeding and roosting eagles. This trip will spend more time at individual eagle sites to maximize photography opportunities, compared to our other eagle-watching trips. The trip is led annually by Indiana Audubon member and birder April Raver and lasts about three hours.RegistrationPre-registration is required, as these annual eagle-watching field trips fill quickly and participation is limited to 20 people. Registration costs $5 for Indiana Audubon members and $10 for non-members. All registered participants must review and agree to the Indiana Audubon Field Trip Release before joining any Indiana Audubon trip or event.If you use Apple's "Hide My Email" feature, forwarding may stop after 30 days, which can block event correspondence.
