- **Event Description**: This course is designed to help managers build better professional relationships with Aboriginal staff and ensure culturally appropriate management practices and become a Kwobadjil Birdiya, “Best Boss”.

Culture influences how we perform across all spheres of life, including the workplace. Many Aboriginal people have alternative perspectives and expectations of the workplace and may have different professional supervision and support requirements.

Delivered by a highly-experienced Aboriginal trainer, the course explores key concepts such as codeswitching, cultural load, lateral violence, micro-aggression, intergenerational trauma, cultural safety, the impact of kinship responsibilities, earning trust and learning from each other.

Join us to explore these ideas and how they can be accommodated in a strengths-based framework, as well as learning how to better work with and understand the wellbeing needs of your Aboriginal staff.

While there is no formal prerequisite for this course, it is strongly recommended that participants have previously attended Aboriginal Cultural Awareness training and have a strong general understanding of Aboriginal culture and history.

We also have a version of this course suitable for all staff, that is available on request for custom training clients.

Creating a culturally safe work environment
Building trusting relationships
The impact of the past, and recent and intergenerational trauma
Combating racism and discrimination
The impact of cultural load and codeswitching
Utilising strengths-based management
