Gather on the shores of Dyoondalup Point Walter for stories of Country shared in song, dance and music.
Nitja (Noongar for here) is a free outdoor event that invites us all to listen, learn and reflect on stories that have always been here on the banks of the Derbarl Yerrigan.
Guided by a circle of Elders, Nitja emerges from the vision of acclaimed Noongar artists Ian Wilkes and Rickeeta Walley, alongside Yamatji artist Chloe Ogilvie. Boorloo four-piece Mongeeya bring their rich, resonant sound, interwoven with evocative arrangements by Iain Grandage. The work is carried by the powerfully tender voice of Yawuru vocalist Tehya Makani and embodied through the inspired performance of Noongar/Yamatji artist Jayden Boundry.
Bring a picnic at sunset and be a part of something rare and unforgettable, a cultural gathering that belongs to this place, to this community and to everyone who comes to sit here.
