- **Event Description**: Join Stirling Libraries for an evening with Western Australian author Lisa Ellery as she discusses her latest crime novel, Hot Ground. Set against the striking backdrop of WA's Goldfields, this gripping outback mystery begins when veteran prospector Max Cochrane vanishes without a trace in a remote mining region. Detective Jessy Parkin, relegated to policing purgatory after a tainted investigation, is tasked with finding him. What starts as a concerned daughter’s plea for help soon unravels into a complex mystery filled with buried secrets, shifting loyalties and the lure of fortune. As Kalgoorlie's gold rush continues to shape lives and livelihoods, Jessy discovers that the truth may be the rarest find of all.

About the author
Lisa Ellery was raised on a farm near Esperance on Western Australia's south coast before studying law and arts at the University of Western Australia. She moved to Kalgoorlie-Boulder in 1998, where she built a successful career in commercial and mining law and later established her own law firm. Drawing on her deep connection to regional Western Australia and the mining industry, Lisa brings insight to her crime fiction. She is the author of the acclaimed crime novels Private Prosecution and Hot Ground, both set against the distinctive backdrop of Western Australia's Goldfields.
