A mentoring series will be run in 2026, with the support of an arts grant from Town of Victoria Park, where senior pianists share their musical and creative experience with young and emerging musicians. We are delighted to announce the second Mentor in the series is Dr Gaby Gunders.

About the Mentoring Session

We are inviting observers (all ages/levels) along to this session in a friendly and safe environment. Gaby will be running this session with a small group of mentees. Interested mentees please submit expression of interest to: mareelaffan@hotmail.com. The presentation will focus on managing performance anxiety, practice, or other element from Gaby’s Performance Courage Lab workshops. 

About Dr Gaby Gunders

Gaby is a pianist, educator, and specialist in music performance anxiety. With training and a career in performance (BMusHon) and collaborative piano (MMus), Gaby has worked extensively with musicians in both professional and educational settings. Following the completion of her PhD in Music and Psychology, Gaby founded the Performance Courage Lab, providing workshops, consultations, and professional development for music teachers and performers. Committed to both performance and pedagogy, Gaby combines expertise in psychology and music to help musicians thrive on stage and in the studio. Gaby teaches piano at the UWA Conservatorium of Music and in her private piano studio, lectures at UWA, and is the Chief Examiner and the Senior Academic Advisor at the Australian Music Examination Board in Western Australia. Beyond her musical and performance pursuits, Gaby is a longtime volunteer Crisis Supporter with Lifeline Australia and cherishes her time with her family.
